Adam Michel, Managing Director of Evapco, Asia/Pacific, was awarded the Magnolia Silver Awards on Sep 14, 2012!

(Shanghai, China)  – The Magnolia Silver award was given to Adam Michel, Managing Director of EVAPCO, Asia/Pacific on Friday, September 14, 2012.

The honor is awarded by the Shanghai government to foreigners who live and work in Shanghai and have made significant contributions to the city’s social, economic, and cultural development.

The Baoshan District Government, where EVAPCO’s Shanghai plant and Asia/Pacific Headquarters is located, nominated Michel.  He is the first recipient of the award from Baoshan IndustrialZone (Sbiz)in this district.

“I am honored that the Baoshan District Government, along with the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office, recognised me for the Magnolia Silver award,” said Michel. “I am sharing this award with EVAPCO employees, who work hard to deliver great business results and make a lasting impact on the great city we live in – Shanghai.”

The Magnolia Silver award has been given to expatriates since 1989 by the Shanghai government.  It remains one of the highest honors for foreigners in the city.

Michel has led EVAPCO’s Asia business for more than three years.  He has helped generate significant growth in revenue and profit for the company.  Michel also introduced a profit-sharing program for employees in China in December 2010. Recently, he oversaw a 5,000 square meter expansion of manufacturing space at EVAPCO’s Baoshan plant.

Michel also serves on the boards of EVAPCO Asia/Pacific and EVAPCO-BLCT, a joint-venture specialising in the manufacture and sale of air-cooled condensers for the power industry.

Aside from his contributions within the company, Michel is member of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Shanghai.  He serves as a committee chairman, speaker and volunteer for the organisation.  He has been a part of AmCham Shanghai since 2007.

Michel, who graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2005, is also a mentor for the university’s CORPs program.  The program promotes Vanderbilt to Chinese nationals who are interested in attending the school.  Michel interviews potential students and serves as a liaison to his alma mater.
